We Welcome our new Chef de cuisine at Le Mystique: Koenraad Steenkiste

Koenraad Steenkiste is a highly experienced and seasoned Chef de cuisine, who has joined Le Mystique restaurant, located inside the Hotel Heritage Relais & Chateaux in Bruges.

Chef Koenraad Steenkiste has worked at Michelin starred-restaurants such as “Comme chez Soi” in Brussels, and ”De Karmeliet” in Bruges, in addition to gourmet restaurants including “Manuscript” at 5* Kempinski Hotel, and “Ostend Queen” in Bruges and Ostende respectively.

Due to his prior experience in various restaurants, Chef Koenraad Steenkiste is keenly aware of customers’ expectations, an asset that Hotel Heritage and Le Mystique restaurant are proud of. “Anticipating guests’ requests is a special gift within hospitality, and it is the essence of what we are trying to achieve every day at our hotel,” said the four star hotel’s owner Johan Creytens. “We are delighted that Chef Koenraad Steenkiste has joined our team at Le Mystique and we look forward to watching his fabulous culinary expertise take form in our restaurant!”

Chef Koenraad Steenkiste has already imprinted his special cooking style in the menu, offering typical Flemish specialties with some foreign influences.
“Classic, contemporary and mostly with local influences, with a touch of Bruges cuisine,” comments Chef Koenraad as he describes his cooking style. One of his core commitments is seeking out and using mainly fresh, organic ingredients.

Chef Koenraad shares this view with the owners Johan and Isabelle Creytens when it comes to the superb quality of the cuisine. Koenraad and his team are aware that the quality-price ratio is a key element to fine dining, but despite this, they do not want the price to become a drawback to attracting potential customers.
According to Johan Creytens, “Offering a menu at the lowest tariff of € 45 is only possible if there is a wide range of choice and the ingredients are still of top quality.”
The sophisticated presentation of the meals testifies Koenraad Steenkiste’s experience in top-rated restaurants. Moreover, keeping intact the savours and maintaining the high quality of the ingredients used are essential to the newly appointed chef.

The wine list is very eclectic, featuring some of the most famous French wine of the world, as well as top quality Belgian wine that perfectly match with the Flemish cuisine.
The authentic character of the restaurant will be preserved, in combination with a little touch of modernity inspired by Isabelle Creytens, the Lady of the house.

With the new Chef, the opening hours are going to change: the restaurant is opening earlier for the diner at 6.30 pm, and will close later than before at 9.30 pm.

Le Mystique is open on request for the lunch and with a minimum of eight people.

Festival Cinema Novo 2012!

We are excited for the Festival Cinema Novo taking place on March 8 this year:

According to the website, The Cinema Novo Festival was founded in 1983. It was then called the Third World Film Festival, an initiative of the Brugge Third World Council, which provided the town with advice in matters of development aid.

The aim of the ‘founding fathers’ – Jan De Clercq and Georges Micholt – was to use a film event, one of the most popular cultural expressions, to contribute to a new image of the developing countries. The first edition featured four films and attracted 700 viewers. During its initial years, the festival started growing steadily: more means, more staff and more visitors. The Third World Film Festival was officially recognized by the Ministry of Development Aid and received financial support from the Flemish Community, the province of West Flanders and the Brugge town council.

We are delighted that travelers will be coming in town for it!
